Why exercise?

Our bodies are bio-chemical machines and as with any machine, it requires regular maintenance and more importantly to be used. Without regular usage some very common health problems occur. Therefore fitness and exercise promotes good health and our brains function better.

Exercise is also a good way to reduce stress, as we exercise the chemical Endorphins are released from the brain, which is the bodies natural pain killer and pleasure drug. Even a short walk helps to clear the head, assisting in the ability to solve or deal with a problem in a much better and more positive way.

Using a fit ball can be one of the easier ways of keeping fit and healthy. Fit balls give extra support and help posture.

As with everything exercise has to be done in moderation and correctly as damage may occur to the body, much in the same way as we drive a car. If you just jump straight into a car, start it and then push the pedals in a random (untrained) manner, the result is not going to be good. Same with exercise, no proper instruction and its "ouch" time. Being in a class is a great way to get motivated and to make some new friends. Or if you have specific needs then a bit of one to one personal training will help you on your path to fitness and health.

Being overweight is a becoming a common problem which is increasing, this promotes laziness and encourages negative thoughts about oneself and the surroundings. The only thing which holds you back is the cage you build for yourself, so get up and change your life. It does sound simple and it is always the simplest things, which are the hardest to do.

Age is not a barrier to exercise. Not all exercise is puff and grunt.
I run a class alongside the cardiac rehabilitation for anyone who just wants to keep fit and enjoy being healthy.

Health on the road

In the coming weeks I will be running a serial which will involve improving the health and fitness of a lorry driver. This will not affect just lorry drivers but anyone who has limited time and space to perform exercise and needs to watch what they eat.

Facts
